Overview

Ana lives with her sister and father Jesus in the small village of La Providencia in the heart of Peru's Amazon jungle. They're thrilled when the state government establishes a school. The teacher becomes a friend of their father but then is last seen when he walks into the jungle carrying a map drawn by Jesus. Days later the girls witness the village mayor murder Jesus. He sees them and they flee, afraid that he will also murder them. They run to a passing boat and hours later arrive in Iquitos where a priest and a young childless couple shelter and protect them from those that would harm them.
