Chapter One

Ability

If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. - 1 Peter 4:11

Lord, You have graciously given me certain abilities. May I always be faithful and responsible to live in such a way that You would be honored and glorified. Speak to my heart and may Your Spirit forever guide my thoughts. Help me as a mother to use the gifts You have given me in ways that are pleasing to You. This I ask in Your precious name. Amen.

Abstain

Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation. - 1 Peter 2:11-12

Father, may You forever be praised. Help me abstain from anything that would take me away from You. Fill me with Your presence and help me be a living example of Your love, grace, and mercy. May my life be a reflection of Your faithfulness. Protect my thoughts and hold me in Your arms for Youare my strength and my Redeemer. This I ask in Your most holy name. Amen.

Abundant

Rejoice the soul of Your servant, For to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul. For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You. - Psalm 86:4-5

Oh Father, how wonderful You are. Your love is endless, and Your abundant mercy is new every morning. My heart is filled with praise for Your lovingkindness. Help me as a mother to share Your abundant love with each of my children. May Your Spirit give me the wisdom necessary to guide the precious gifts You have given me. I confess that I cannot live without You in my life. Give me the power of Your presence to live each day for You, my Lord and my Savior. I ask these things in Your most holy name. Amen.

Acceptable

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. - Ephesians 5:8-10

Father, You have given me the privilege of being a mother, teaching and helping my children grow into responsible adults. I pray that those You have given me will be acceptable in Your sight. You have spoken in Your Word that we are the light of the world. May we forever walk as children of light and live to bring honor and glory to You. I ask these things in Your precious name. Amen.

Affectionate

Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another. - Romans 12:10

Lord, You have said in Your Word to be "kindly affectionate with brotherly love" to those around me. Soften my heart and give me a sensitive spirit to my family as well as those I interact with each day. Let my life be a clear reflection of Your love and care for each of us. Help me, O Lord, to look beyond my own selfish desires that I may see the needs and desires of others. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Afraid

Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation. - Isaiah 12:2

Lord, I must confess that I am afraid. Life has given me many challenges, and sometimes I feel so inadequate. Strengthen my heart, and give me a bold spirit to accept the challenges of life. Help me live above my circumstances and rejoice in the power of Your presence. You have told me to trust in You with all my heart (Proverbs 3:5). You alone are my strength and my salvation. Help me rest in this truth today. This I ask in Your precious name. Amen.

Always

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. - Philippians 4:4-5

Father, my heart is filled with joy when I recognize that You are always with me. Nothing can separate me from Your love. Today I rejoice in the blessing of Your presence in my life. Help me always to be a blessing to my children and to those in my family. Let me never forget that You are with me always. Open my eyes and heart to Your presence that I may tell others of Your saving grace. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Anger

"Be angry, and do not sin": do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil. - Ephesians 4:26-27

Father, I must confess that sometimes I lose my temper. Sometimes, when I am angry, I say words that I shouldn't say to those who love me. Place within my heart the desire to settle all disagreements. Guide my tongue with words that bring peace and contentment to my loved ones. This I ask in Your most holy name. Amen.

Anxious

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:6-7

Father, You told us in Your Word to be anxious for nothing, but to come to You in prayer. Open my heart that I might be willing to share with You everything in life that breaks my confidence and takes me away from You. Give me a willing heart to share my life with You, holding nothing back. Lord, I thank You for the promises that You have given me. Protect my heart and mind! In Your name I humbly pray. Amen.

Ask

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. - Ephesians 3:20

Father, my heart aches to know the complete love of Christ. Open my mind and heart that I may see the power of Your glory. Give me a bold spirit to live for You. Place within my heart the love and compassion I so desperately need. Help me run to You each day confessing my shortcomings and seeking Your wisdom and direction for my life. Lord, I ask that Your Spirit guide my life into a deeper relationship with You. Wrap Your arms around me for You are my strength and my salvation. These things I ask in Your holy name. Amen.

Assurance

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. - Hebrews 10:22-23

Father, You have invited me to draw near with full assurance of faith. Thank You for that invitation. Fill me with the power of Your presence that You might forever be the center of my hope. Help me, O Lord, to hold fast to my confession and live a life full of Your love without hesitation or wavering. For I know You are faithful and I thank You for Your everlasting love. Bless me that I may bless those You have given me to raise and nurture. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Beauty

Do not let your adornment be merely outward-arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel-rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. - 1 Peter 3:3-4

Lord, may the inner beauty that only You can give forever shine through my heart that others may see Your love and grace. Give me a gentle and quiet spirit that glorifies Your presence. Let the beauty of the Holy Spirit shine in my life that everyone will see how precious and important You are to me. Guard my heart from selfishly living to please others with how I look or what I wear. May I be an example to my children that inner beauty comes from You and that it is all You see. This I ask in Your precious name. Amen.

Believe

"Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also." - John 14:1-3

Lord, help me believe that You are the way, the truth, and the life. My heart yearns for the power of Your presence. Never let me doubt Your love and mercy, but strengthen me to tell others of Your saving grace and never-ending love. May Your Spirit direct my path daily and strengthen my commitment to Your purpose. For without You, I am nothing. But with You, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13). Praise God. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Blessed

Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her: "Many daughters have done well, But you excel them all." Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, And let her own works praise her in the gates. - Proverbs 31:28-31

Father, You have blessed me with the precious gifts of children and a family. May my life reflect Your love and my children know You and Your unconditional love. Guide my thoughts and actions each day, for I am dependent on Your Spirit to guide me with wisdom. Help me be the mother You wish me to be. These things I ask in Your most holy name. Amen.

Blessing

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love. - Ephesians 1:3-4

Thank You, Father, for the blessings You pour out upon me every day. Help me be a blessing to the loved ones You have given me. Fill my heart and mind with spiritual and logical wisdom that I might always be an example and model for my family. Protect me from anything that would separate me from You and bring dishonor to Your Holy name. Lord, open my eyes that I may bless my children daily. May Your Holy Spirit give me the discernment to be sensitive to all their spiritual and physical needs. May Your blessings forever surround me and keep all of us in the center of Your will. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Burden

Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved. - Psalm 55:22

Lord, You have invited me through Your Word to cast my burdens on You. I must confess that my heart is heavy and sometimes the burdens of life are too much for me to bear alone. Help me, O Lord, to accept that Your yoke is easy and Your burden is light (Matthew 11:30). Please let me look beyond my challenges and rejoice in the promise of Your presence, for You, O Lord, are ever with me and Your strength will sustain me in all of my circumstances. Praise God in whose name I pray! Amen.

Care

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. - 1 Peter 5:6-7

Father, I know that You care for me. Help me to humbly rejoice in the blessings You have given me, as I seek to know You and the power of Your presence today. I will empty myself and give You everything that separates me from You. As a mother, I need Your tender care to encourage and lift me up to be all You wish me to be. Hold me in Your arms and strengthen me for Your purpose. I know You have a plan for me, and I yearn for Your direction. This I humbly pray in Your name. Amen.

Children

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one's youth. - Psalm 127:3-4

I praise You, God, for the children You have given me. They truly are a heritage from You. Give me the wisdom to raise each one with the knowledge of a loving Savior. Guide me, O Lord, that my children may know Your saving grace and the power of the resurrection. Protect each one I pray and keep them from harm. Give me the wisdom to make the right choices that will glorify You and develop solid values for the rest of their lives. And Father, let my life be an example of the unconditional love that only You can give. Praise Your Holy name in which I pray. Amen.

Chosen

I have chosen the way of truth; Your judgments I have laid before me. I cling to Your testimonies; O Lord, do not put me to shame! I will run the course of Your commandments, For You shall enlarge my heart. - Psalm 119:30-32

Lord, may Your name forever be praised. I have chosen to live for You and to serve You each day of my life. Help me cling to what is pleasing in Your sight and give me the wisdom to glorify You today and every day. May Your Word come alive in all that I do. Give me the power of Your presence to be the mother You designed me to be and may the way of truth live within my heart always. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Christ

For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height-to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. - Ephesians 3:14-19

Father, You have given Your Son, Jesus Christ, as a sacrifice for my sin. Today I bow my knees in thanksgiving for the love You have so graciously demonstrated for me. May You forever dwell in my heart with Your everlasting love. Fill me with the power of Your presence through the Holy Spirit and guide my steps each day to make a difference in life for Your glory. This I ask in Your most precious name. Amen.

Comfort

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ. - 2 Corinthians 1:3-5

Lord, my heart is full, for each day You come to me with the comfort of joy and peace that is beyond my understanding. Give me the desire to be a comfort to those who are hurting. Let me be sensitive to anyone who faces the trials and tribulations of life. Help me to reach out with a compassionate heart to share the love of Christ with others. This I ask in Your most holy name. Amen.

Compassion

The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, Slow to anger and great in mercy. The Lord is good to all, And His tender mercies are over all His works. - Psalm 145:8-9

Father, how wonderful it is to know that Your compassion is new every morning. You are forever gracious and slow to anger even when I stumble and fail You in my day-to-day life. Give me a compassionate heart for each one in my family and for those whom I interact with each day. Let my countenance speak volumes of Your never-ending love so that others may know of Your tender mercy and find peace in the arms of our Savior. Praise God in whose name I pray! Amen.

Confession

Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. - Hebrews 4:14-16

You have promised me in Your Word that if I confess my sins and turn from my wicked ways, that You will hear from heaven and forgive my sins. Help me come boldly to the throne of grace and find mercy in this time of need. Let me praise Your name to each of my loved ones that they may know the never-ending forgiveness and unconditional love that comes to us when we are willing to confess our sins and shortcomings. May God forever be praised. In Jesus' name. Amen.
