Many years ago, the great Reformer, Martin Luther, had the chance to sit down with his students and colleagues while explaining his thoughts on various subjects. These informal conversations took place in Dr. Luther's home, the former monastery of the Augustinians, called the Black Cloister. In this collection he discussed various things such as God's Word, the nature of the world, imperial diets, prayer, antichrist, and many other topics. The author of this book, titled An Illuminating Table Talk, wishes to offer his thoughts on similar topics such as education, the American Constitution, Bible translations, and liberty. This book is also meant to wake up Christians who slumber in a state of apathy in our increasingly wicked world. These separate articles, that make up the book, were originally published as letters to the editor in local South Dakota newspapers.
