An Anthology: Requiem for a life:A collection of short stories on the psychology of being, emotions, and the human mind
In the labyrinthine corridors of the human psyche, emotions echo like distant whispers, suffering takes on many forms, and the very essence of being is both profound and enigmatic. Welcome to a journey through the intricate landscapes of human emotions, the boundless expanse of suffering, and the philosophical exploration of our existence. This book delves into the profound aspects of what it means to grapple with the relentless passage of time, often leaving us trapped forever in the embrace of the past.
As we embark on this intellectual and emotional odyssey, we find ourselves confronted by diseases that affect the mind, driving its patients into an unthinkable world. Disease such as Alzheimer's disease which slowly erodes the memories that shape our identities, forces us to confront the fragility of our recollections and question the very nature of continuity. Through the lens of dementia, we delve into the concept of memory as a vessel for our sense of self and contemplate the implications of living in a world where the past becomes our only refuge. Have you ever heard of the suffering of those with depression? When the world seems to acquire non-recovering darkness and the soul is emptied of all that makes it alive?
These pages unravel the enigma of altered perceptions, where reality and illusion intertwine. We explore the experiences of those who hear voices unheard by others and see manifestations that elude the grasp of the real world. These phenomena prompt us to challenge the boundaries of reality, forcing us to consider the intricate interplay between our senses, our minds, and the external universe.
This anthology book is an invitation to explore the multidimensional facets of the human experience – the elation, the agony, the rapture, and the turmoil. It explores the tapestry woven from the threads of love, suffering, memory, and reality. It beckons us to contemplate our humanity's essence, embrace the questions that defy easy answers, and acknowledge the vastness of our emotional and philosophical terrain.
This anthology includes 10 short stories written by Yasmine Yousri Fathy.

About the Author

My name is Yasmine Yousri Fathy, a medical doctor, aspiring neuroscientist, and writer. For years, my focus had been on neurodegenerative diseases. I have become intrigued by these diseases because of the extent of damage they cause, transforming human beings into something else. And throughout my search for answers, I became interested in the sad stories behind these disease and the philosophy of life. I try to mirror the sufferings of human beings as seen behind closed doors, in the wards of hospitals, in the darkness of the night when humans are confronted by their own vulnerabilities because I believe these stories are not told as often as they should.
