Overview

"A wish is just a wish until it's wished." What would you wish for if you knew that time was running out? What if you gathered your dreams and wrote them on index cards? What if you trusted the universe to look over your shoulder; to guide your hands while you shuffled, then stacked them face down? Would you have the courage to follow through? Could you find it in your heart to believe? Could you believe in miracles? Could you believe in magic? What would you trade? What's a dream worth? What if the first card you turned was "Love" This is our story.

We had nothing to give one another except words; every one of them precious. Thoughtful gifts of truth. Four hundred and forty-seven days of sacrifice. We abstained the joys of voice to force us silent in a world of noise. Old world correspondence regained against a backdrop of Tweets. A conversation. Love letters between two hearts that always believed. I've saved and hoarded and gathered our dreams, a year of faith and magic. I'm ready now to give them back as a gift for you to share. To guide the lovers who search, to lead those who believe; to share our beloved tale. To show the world the power of hope.

The books document us from the first time we make contact. We go into great detail about what each of us feels at the moment. The next three books are already written. They get very interesting from a synchronicity point of view; the serendipitous moments that flow through everyone's life. Some of ours snowball and gather intensity. They usually happen when we're alone with one another. They purposely bring us together, then show the other partner the journey taken. What's unique is how it unfolds in real-time. We finish each other's words; "Mind-reader"; gets tossed about more often during the episodes. I didn't set out to write this story. I grabbed it to save her words and journey. I thought she was simply one of the most beautiful souls I had ever encountered. I thought the world should know who she was.

We tossed back and forth about leaving the story at Valentine's Day, but then things escalated. They took a darker turn, they took a path we've never been down. The universe made us uncomfortable, made us face ourselves, made us empty our preconceived notions of life, love, sex ... made us revisit our belief in soulmates.

She's always believed in soulmates and great loves, but then, she's smarter than me. I'm a mechanic, a builder, I know how things work. I didn't believe in destiny or soulmates. We're human. We fight to find and make love last. She was refined, elegant, she bristled at foul language. Because I'm a would-be writer, I know that sometimes only specific words will do. She tolerated me.

The book's simply a conversation between two strangers who became friends. That, the conversations are between myself and one of the most beautiful souls I've ever met is to the benefit of the reader. She is brilliant, kind, compassionate beyond belief, with a sense of humor that's unparalleled. She is the lyricist and poet that opens every chapter.

There are moments in the book that neither of us would have shared unless they were important. Some of them won't pay off until the end of book three. As I first responded to her, 'If I've done what I set out to do, you will know me as few people do.' I'm used to that. I know who I am. I have walked a line of kindness and compassion my whole life. I don't believe I owe anyone anything, but she is smarter than me. She is refined and gracious. She is kind and brave. She is a fighter who rises from the darkness of the disease she lives with. She is beauty, she is love; she is compassion personified. She is the lyricist and poet that opens every chapter.

She had read something between the lines in my first book. She saw something in me that called to her. She believed in our partnership for reasons that defied logic. She sat down in a moment of crisis and wrote a letter to God, she sat outside and read it aloud to be sure the universe heard her. She had questions for me: Was my first book true? ~ Yes. Was Leo getting any better? ~ Yes. Did I truly believe in magic; in dreams; in hope; in love that was eternal? ~ Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.

This is her story, this is our story.

We hope you find yours as well.

"Almost home. I found her words in everything. Her joys and loss, her hopes and tears. I. Know. Them. All. Her words have played all through time. Spoken by poets; my muse's gift. She has lured me here. She's close. Focus. Breathe. Be. Listen for the laugh, look for the smile..." ~ A Gathering of Dreams

The promises, whispered in the depth of night now come to light. Forced onto the hope of another day, born against the futility of yesterday; a dream rises and shakes from the ashes, somewhere a heartbeat picks up the pace and lends credence to my faith that yes, love is real.
