Overview

Being human is a state of mind...

Meet Terry Gable, an ordinary middle-aged man experiencing an ordinary midlife crisis. He's depressed about getting older, does a job he despises, and is trapped in a loveless marriage. Little does he know, the life he hates is about to take an extraordinary turn...

In Altered Man, Terry becomes the unwitting guinea pig of Dr. Hugo Zlick, a brilliant yet dangerously insane scientist. One fateful night, Terry is transformed into a sentient golf ball and dumped at a local golf course, where he becomes a tiny sphere of awareness amidst the manicured greens and bunkers.

As a golf ball, Terry can see, hear and feel everything but is powerless to change his predicament. He watches in silent despair as golfers argue over shots, slice him into ponds, and send him hurtling through the air. His existential crisis deepens as he grapples with the absurdity of his new life, his longing to be human again, and his complete and utter helplessness.

Altered Man is a darkly funny novella that explores the absurdity of midlife crises in a whole new way. Join Terry on a mind-bending, thrilling and occasionally horrifying journey as he faces unique challenges and ultimately learns what it means to be human.
