About the Author

Thomas "Axe" Littleton, PhD, spent a more than 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, and retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He is veteran of Just Cause, Desert Storm, Somalia, the No-Fly Zones over Iraq, the Balkan Wars, the Kosovo War, Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, and Iraqi Freedom during the second Gulf War. After retiring from the Air Force, Tom worked as a test pilot for a major aerospace manufacturer, and as a private military contractor flying high-risk security missions in Central and South America, Africa, the Balkans, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Over the course of his adventures, Tom logged more than 600 combat flight hours while flying 172 combat missions, and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, six Air Medals, and three Aerial Achievement Medals for his heroism in battle.
