Mabel Lucie Attwell (4 June 1879 - 5 November 1964) was a much loved British illustrator whose artwork holds a unique appeal to both children and adults. A huge commercial success during her lifetime, her illustrations are familiar from stories such as Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan and Wendy and The Water Babies, each recognised and loved as nursery classics around the world.
Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland has delighted and entranced children for over a hundred years. Lewis Carroll was the pen-name of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson. Born in 1832, he studied at Christ Church College, Oxford where he became a mathematics lecturer. The Alice stories were originally written for Alice Liddell, the daughter of the dean of his college
