Alex Cross, Run (Alex Cross Series #18)
Kill Alex Cross was "Patterson at the top of his game" (Washington Post). Alex Cross, Run is even better.

DON'T LOOK, ALEX CROSS

Top plastic surgeon Elijah Creem is renowned for his skills in the operating room, and for his wild, no-expense-spared "industry parties," bringing in underage exotic dancers and models for nights of drugs, champagne, and uninhibited sex. That is, until Detective Alex Cross busts one of Creem's lavish soirees and ruins his fun. Now Creem is willing to do anything to avoid going to jail.

DON'T THINK, ALEX CROSS

But Alex doesn't have time to dwell on that case. A beautiful woman has been found murdered in her car, a lock of her hair viciously ripped off. Then a second woman is found hanging from a sixth-floor window with a brutal scar slashed across her stomach. When a third mutilated body is discovered, rumors of three serial killers on the loose send Washington D.C. into an all-out frenzy.

JUST RUN

Alex is under so much pressure to solve these three grim cases that he hasn't noticed that someone else investigating him-someone so obsessed and so twisted that they'll do anything-ANYTHING- to get the vengeance they require. Alex Cross, Run is James Patterson's most unrelenting story yet-a white-hot, sensational thrill ride with the most extreme and gripping characters Patterson has ever brought to life.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly - Audio

The latest episode in the troubled life of Patterson’s Alex Cross makes a very satisfying transition to audio thanks to top-notch narrators Michael Boatman and Steven Boyer. Boatman smoothly performs the chapters narrated by Cross, giving the D.C. police detective a thoughtful, measured tone that, when tested by a pair of vicious multiple murderers and an obsessed character from his past, turns tough, understandably aggressive, and, at times, unexpectedly guilt-ridden. Boyer gives voice to the twisted killers—one erudite and sinister, the other emotional and sleazy—whose plot to discredit Cross works surprisingly well; he also voices just about every other character in the novel. With a series as long running as this, the secret of success for each new addition is its ability to place its hero into a state of credible jeopardy. Patterson has done just that here, and the two narrators have turned his suspenseful and well-plotted novel into a riveting audio thriller. A Little, Brown hardcover. (Feb.)

READERS LOVE CROSS FIRE!

Bibliophilic Book Blog

Lives are lost, people Alex loves are in serious danger, and everyone is afraid that they're going to be next on the sniper's list. This is another great and addicting tale of murder and mayhem—Alex Cross style! I was hard pressed to put it down!

John M. Wills

In true Patterson fashion, the story includes every element a good cop tale needs: shootouts, car chases, mysterious characters, and bad guys galore.

Rich and textured…The production envelops the listener in sound effects such as street noise and gunshots, and music adds further tension to the story’s fast pace. Patterson has given both Boatman and Boyer great material to work with, and they shine in this captivating production.”

Beyond the Bookshelf

The Cross family will never be the same! Cross Fire will leave you turning page after page with endless suspense.

Library Journal

Alex Cross arrested hotshot plastic surgeon Elijah Creem for sleeping with underage girls, but Creem is now out of prison and has used his skills to change his face. Meanwhile, a young woman is found hanging, having just given birth, but the baby is missing. And Alex doesn't realize that he is being watched. I think we can guess where this is going. With 75 million copies of his books in print, Patterson is the king of crime.

FEBRUARY 2013 - AudioFile

Detective Cross has both his personal and professional lives splashed across the headlines in print and on the Internet as serial killers pursue their psychotic plans in Washington, D.C. This audio experience is rich and textured with its dual narrators, Michael Boatman portraying Cross and Steven Boyer portraying the villain, plastic surgeon and serial killer Elijah Creem. The production envelops the listener in sound effects such as street noise and gunshots, and music adds further tension to the story’s fast pace. Patterson has given both Boatman and Boyer great material to work with, and they shine in this captivating production. S.C. © AudioFile 2013, Portland, Maine
