Features: This is a useful but highly specialized monograph on alcohol and caffeine use in older persons that comes at these issues from several interesting perspectives, e.g., body composition as it relates to the volume of distribution of alcohol in older persons. There is about the right balance between text and illustrations in this book.
Assessment: The juxtaposition of alcohol and caffeine would benefit from a discussion of how tobacco interacts with these substances and their clinical sequelae and the interactions of these substances with prescription drugs
