Jeb Skowler had a complicated relationship with his father. So complicated that they stop speaking to one another at times. Their on and off relationship placed a strain on the entire family. Jeb's father was not an absent father but in other ways he became absent. Jeb Sr. became a preacher after a traumatic experience so his outlook on life had changed. Nevertheless, Jeb Jr. grew into a tall, dark and handsome man. But looks can be deceiving because it was centered around duplicity and pain that was partly caused by a former lover. Still, Jeb was able to move on with his life and start anew. His gentleman cowboy exterior fooled many, but his family knew him best. Yet, Jeb had a made-up mind and done whatever he wanted. In the end money, family nor his father's legacy could help him.
