When Noah Sullivan wakes up in a hospital bed, he has no idea of who he is or how he got there. It seems he has retrograde amnesia, having been found near a large group of craters after what appeared to be a natural phenomenon had taken place where a meteor struck the earthand he wasnt found alone but with a woman named Ariel who also has amnesia.

Noah is drawn to her, and there is an obvious connection between them. But after they are released from the hospital, they lose contact. Upon their separation, however, Noah begins to hear unrelenting screaming voices blaring in his mind and to see graphic hallucinations of blood-filled, burned, and barren wastelands. In the meantime, he begins to consider what kind of person he was prior to the accident, while Ariel attempts to build a new life for herself in a hostile world. But it soon becomes clear that their connection holds the answers each of them needs in order to understand what has happened to themand that mystery goes beyond anything they could have imagined.

In this novel, a man and a woman afflicted with amnesia after an accident discover a strange connection between them as they learn about their previous lives.
