See, a couple of years ago, a cheating woman permanently altered someone very close to me – caused him so much pain that, to this day, this person who I care very much about is nothing like he was before he met this former love of his.
To protect this person's identity, I will not reveal who he is to me, but I'll put it to you this way, especially since Star Wars is so popular and everyone relates to it, this man I wrote this for was once the like a sweet Anakin Skywalker, but after what his ex put him through, he hasn't had a functional relationship in the following five years.
He really has become like the Darth Vader of dating – doesn’t invest himself in the least and even does to women what had been done to him.
Let me guess – you've probably judged him as emotionally weak already, haven't you?
“Get over it, already” right? He should just “be a man” and carry on.
I probably would have thought the same...if this man wasn't one of the roughest individuals I ever met.
In fact, I became quite fond of the woman who went on to break his heart because she brought out a side of him most of us close to him never saw. She brought out his sensitivity, his kindness and so many other traits most of us find endearing in those we get romantically involved with.
And then she destroyed it.
The reason this guy never fully recovered from it is because he never really was too good with relationships to begin with. He kind of drifted from one tryst to the next. And then she came along.
He never believed he'd find 'that girl' and next thing you know, she crawled out of the woodwork. Maybe she never really understood what she meant to him. Maybe he just loved her too much, but whatever the case the effects were devastating.
