Overview

Born in the wild and quickly domesticated, few were afraid of him, most were in awe of him. His markings and stature suited his namesake. And his presence when he entered a room made people stop and stare, making all the rules for others to live by, and smiling at you with that toothy fang grin. Recently released Adventures with Byron offers the reader a unique glimpse into the life of an enchanting feline. A must have for feline lovers offering humor, love and excitement, challenge and determination and in the end, a chance to live forever. You will laugh, cry and wonder... along with wander across the United States on numerous treks with Byron. You will also share those moments of tough decisions and celebrate his life.

Because of the deep expressions of love and later immense grief, the book is written in the voice of the feline. At times the reader may not be able to decipher who is talking - the feline or the human. The author deciphered the voice of the human using italics. The author, who maintains a daily journaling practice kept a journal of stories as she and Byron shared a home, traveled and reached the time to make a tough decision across the 18 years they were together. As the author journaled her thoughts she wrote as if Byron was speaking to her. "As I watched Byron over the years with much enjoyment, it was his eyes looking back at mine that I realized these were his words not mine." With each journal entry, the author found the lovely expression of his thoughts flowed as the ink traveled across the page. "There is so much love, humor and determination that Byron brings to life at times giving him human qualities. You almost expect him at some point to actually drive the car on their cross country trips" says the author.

The book is also filled with pictures and graphics adding to each story or poem. As you read the stories and poems, you decide whether you can decipher the line between who is the human and who is the feline. A truly enchanting companion, he holds a special place in many a heart.
