In 1979 recently divorced Sean Ballard decided to leave the se¬curity of corporate life to realize his dream of skippering motor yachts. Sean had left the hills of Virginia in 1959, moving first to Florida, where he climbed steadily up the ladder, changing jobs and cities as necessary. He was Vice-President of an enterprise based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, until the opportunity presented itself, that of actually becoming a yacht captain. This is his journey...from bringing a yacht down the rivers from Oklahoma to Florida, cruising the Bahamas and even overseeing construction of his bosses’ yachts in China.

About the Author

I have done a little of everything. My first wife and I had two children, both of whom are successful far beyond the peak of my achievements. I have helped manage major flo¬ral companies and have run other people’s boats.
However, my story is not nearly as interesting as the one about my fictitious character, Sean Ballard. Although our lives seem to parallel to a point, I can only wish mine were as adven¬turous and flamboyant as his.
