Purpose: In addition to presenting the recent advances in this area, the book focuses on pathological aspects that are of critical importance for patient management as well as potential pitfalls that pathologists might encounter when dealing with bladder biopsies.
Audience: The audience is primarily pathologists who work with bladder specimens. Residents with a particular interest in bladder pathology also would find this book to be a high-yield resource on bladder biopsies in their training.
Features: The first section addresses the clinical management of bladder cancer from a surgical, medical oncology, and radiation oncology perspective. This section is an excellent resource for educating pathologists on the implications of rendering particular pathological diagnoses on clinical management, whether on permanent sections or as intraoperative consultations. The second section covers the histological aspects of bladder cancer, including chapters on normal histology and anatomy, immunohistochemistry, urine cytology, and fluorescence in situ hybridization (UroVysion).
