Professor Umesh C. Goswami Department Of Zoology, Gauhati University, Guwahati- 781014, Assam India Obtained The Ph. D. Degree From Gauhati University, Guwahati In 1979. Professor Goswami Started His Illustrious Research And Teaching Career As Lecturer In B. Borooah College, Guwahati (1972-1974). He Became Professor In The Department Of oology, Gauhati University In 1993. Dr. Goswami Pursued His Post Doctoral Research (On Fish Physiology) With Professor Otta Oliva- In The Charles University Prague (1979), Indian Institute Of Science (On Retinol Binding Protein ) With Professor J.Ganguly-1980-81), Michigan State University, USA, Professor M. Zile,1987 (On Retinoids Status Of Salmonids Of Great Lake- Michigan Lake) And Institute Of Aquaculture Research Norway, With Professor Trond Storebakken 1993-1996 (On Carotenoids Metabolism In Different Farmed Salmonids). As Head Of The Department ,He Elevated The Department Into A UGC's –SAP And DSTFIST Sponsored Department Along With Establishment Of Three (3) Centers Aquaculture And Aquatic esources Management Centre, Biodiversity And Bioinformatics. He Has Conducted Several Research Projects Sponsored By UGC. DST, DAF, ICAR, World Bank. His Community evelopment Project Grow More Fish: Fish For All Is A Most Successful Project For Socioeconomic Development As Well As For Production Of Fish In Assam .. Twenty Seven Research Scholars Has Been Awarded Ph.D. From Gauhati University And Other Academic Institution. Professor Goswami Has Published A Series Of Research Papers In Journals Of National And International Repute Professor Goswami Was The Sectional President Of The Animal, Veterinary&Fishery Sciences Of The Indian Science Congress In 2006-2007.
