About the Author

Courtney is an award-winning writer, playwright and published author. She is one of the founders of Serendipity Theater (now 2nd Story, Chicago). Her plays have been performed in every major city with performances at the New York Fringe Festival, Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, Strawdog Theater, Second City LA, and the Victory Gardens Theater. Courtney has performed in small theaters throughout Chicago and professionally at the Goodman and Steppenwolf theaters. She has voiced many radio and TV spots and received a best actress nomination for her performance at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. She has also taught acting and improv for nearly 20 years. Courtney worked in the corporate setting for more than a decade as the director of content strategy for an internal creative agency. She has led writing teams, and has been the creative mind behind many campaigns and communication strategies. Courtney is the author of the award-winning Gnat&Corky Series. Her first book, Addison the Light Catcher, achieved the number one new release in children's special needs books on Amazon. Gnat&Corky books are all hand painted with watercolor by Natalie Sorrentino (Gnat) and each story is developed and created by Courtney (Corky), who interviews the children. Kids answer Gnat&Corky's questions at www.gnatandcorky.com and then Gnat&Corky select children to be interviewed for stories. The art is whimsical, and the storytelling transcends all ages. There are currently four titles published in the Gnat&Corky Series: Addison the Light Catcher, Ken the Keeper, Will It and From Malena with Love. Courtney is currently balancing book launches and working as a writer. Courtney lives in Northern Illinois with her husband, two kids, and Jake- the best dog in the universe.
Natalie picked up her first paintbrush when she was three and she has not stopped painting since. Natalie is the illustrator (Gnat) of the award-winning Gnat&Corky Series; a children's book series based on the spirit of real kids. Natalie has a background in art therapy and has worked with a diverse scope of clients. Over the years, her passion has brought her into many classrooms and corporate environments. Whether making art with her clients, creating team building curriculum, personal works, commissioned pieces or greeting cards; Natalie is deeply drawn into the stories that the human experience tells. She wholeheartedly believes that every individual is their own narrator- eagerly awaiting to weave their personal tale to achieve their highest potential.
