Overview

The Brazos is a river south of Waco, Texas that means "The Arms of God". The legend has it that warriors will rise up from the Brazos and defend Texas. Matt Jorgensen has been accused of a robbery and murder for which he did not commit. He had to leave his home to be on the run when another man was killed who was mistaken for Matt. Throughout his serving in Terry's Texas Rangers in the Civil War, he heads for Texas, across the Brazos to hook up with his general to help rebuild his ranch. He becomes a fast gun. In the meantime, his mother in Montana has asked for his return to ranch in Montana to see him once more before she dies. His father was killed previously by a gang of rustlers. Matt had to make the decision to return and face a hanging for a crime he never committed just so he could see his mother again, or to stay at the ranch that he has called home for the many years. When he returns home, he finds his mother dead and he is the heir to the ranch, if he can be exonerated for the crime he never committed. Certain conditions exist before he can claim title to the ranch. In the mean time, other killers are after his reward before he can be brought to trail. And finally, he faces a love that he had lost before the war and now must confirm that she is the one and the same person.
