Description: This is a useful and up-to-date introduction to the specialty of urology.
Purpose: The purpose is to provide a source of information for surgeons training for the MRCS, and a urology reference for medical students, nursing students, and ancillary staff dealing with patients with urological problems.
Audience: The authors correctly note that the book is written for medical students, surgeons in training, and ancillary staff dealing with patients with urological issues. The authors are credible authorities in the field.
Features: The book provides a brief and up-to-date overview of the common areas in urology. The chapters are well written, concise, and easy to comprehend. The color photographs and diagrams are of excellent quality and are a particular strength of the book.
Assessment: This second edition provides a useful introduction to urology. It is an excellent overview for surgeons, medical students, nurses and ancillary personnel dealing with patients with urologic issues. The updated material and the high quality of the photographs and radiologic imaging definitely justify replacing the previous edition.
