About the Author

Jerry Peterson writes crime novels and short stories set in Kansas, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.

Before becoming a writer, he taught speech, English, and theater in Wisconsin high schools, then worked in communications for farm organizations for a decade in Wisconsin, Michigan, Kansas, and Colorado.

Peterson followed that with a decade as a reporter, photographer, and editor for newspapers in Colorado, West Virginia, Virginia, and Tennessee.
Today, he lives and writes in his home state of Wisconsin, the land of dairy cows, craft beer, and really good books.

John Smith, a sophomore at the University of Iowa, is majoring in liberal arts. There, he's a member of the national championship improv troupe, Paperback Rhino. And he also does a Friday night stint-at midnight-on radio station KRUI 89.7 FM.

Smith writes short stories, poetry, plays, and film scripts. Inspired by Steve Martin, he also plays the banjo.

He comes from a family of performers and musicians. Smith's sister Maggie teaches at Second City in Chicago and performs there. And his other sister, Sarah, is in New York University's film program. Both have been interns in the Hollywood film and television industries.
