Overview

While working on other writing projects, there always was an idea that did not really fit in the story under development. These ideas never died and never totally ripened. This manuscript is the result of these orphaned ideas in the form of a collection of essays.

“Davey Jones’ Locker,” you will find a short story about the relationship between an old man on a porch swing and a little girl who lived across the street.

“Pilgrimage to Bethlehem,” details of an Office Furniture Salesman’s trip to Bethlehem, PA trying to sell office furniture to Lehigh University. The salesman, and two strangers he meets at the hotel restaurant, makes the rounds of bars while in Bethlehem.

“Last Mission Over Stuttgart,” an airman from a WWII USA Bomber Squadron visits Stuttgart, Germany. He wants to observe the town he tried to eliminate, sixty years ago during the first part of 1944.

“Drawer 1313,” what mystery is behind Drawer 1313? Is it empty, contain valuables, or something more sinister? Thomas and Susan will try to solve this mystery.

“T&S INVESTIGATIONS:
-The Green Lunch Pails Caper,” our intrepid pair form their own investigation company and set out to solve the mystery of Dr. Espinoza’s Green Lunch Pail.


“T&S INVESTIGATIONS: -The Purple Caboose,” Tom and Susan go home for the holidays and find themselves caught up the mystery of the Purple Caboose. Solution to the mystery results in a surprise development for Tom and Susan.

“PURPLE CABOOSE INVESTIGATIONS -The Daike Gemstone Case,”
This is the fourth in a series of mystery involving our two young adventurers, While on their honeymoon, Tom and Susan get involved in the case of the missing Daike Gemstone which is on display at the Palmer House. We used the Daike Gemstone only as an anchor point for this fictional mystery.


“Ordeal in the Snow,” is Ulysses P. Morton’s journal that he wrote of his last days in his car stuck in deep snowdrift in the North Woods


“The Vulture Goes to Roost,” is a story about the escapades of a courier who acted as a spy during the Civil War that almost split the United States.

Detective Dahteste I: The Insurance Claim

Detective Dahteste was a Native American and a member of the local tribe. Her tribal name, Dahteste, means warrior. Miss Dahteste is the first of her tribe to get an advanced degree from the state college. She received her master’s degree in Criminology and another in forensics. In this story, she solves the The Insurance Claim


Detective Dahteste II: The Evil Spirit

During her second cup of coffee, the sound of a siren crashed on her ears and her coffee went flying. It was her phone and that meant that the office had a new case for their Native American detective. They seemed to think that she was some kind of shaman that used the spirits to solve the most confusing and difficult cases. In this story, Dahteste takes on The Evil Spirit.

“Last Words from Water’s Edge,” is a few words gleaned from years the author spent at the water’s edge.

About the Author

Mr. Moore is retired, is seventy-seven years old, and married for fifty-seven years to a very understanding wife. The Moore’s have four children, nine live grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Mr. Moore started writing at the age of seventy-three.
