Overview

In this companion volume to A Wrinkle In Time (Newbery Award winner) and A Wind In The Door fifteen-year-old Charles Wallace and the unicorn Gaudior undertake a perilous journey through time in a desperate attempt to stop the destruction of the world by the mad dictator Madog Branzillo. They are not alone in their quest. Charles Wallace's sister, Meg--grown and expecting her first child, but still able to enter her brother's thoughts and emotions by "kything"--goes with him in spirit.

But in overcoming the challenges, Charles Wallace must face the ultimate test of his faith and will, as he is sent within four people from another time, there to search for a way to avert the tragedy threatening them all.

"L'Engle's gifts are at their most impressive here." --  Publisher's Weekly

Editorial Reviews

MAY 2012 - AudioFile

This production of Madeleine L’Engle’s classic is straightforward; there are no extraneous elements of performance, or production, marring the poetic imagery in L’Engle’s blend of science and fantasy. Jennifer Ehle’s narration is not unlike L’Engle’s own voice and reading style. With a clear tenor and unadorned cadence she reads with unassuming authority, subtly shifting the intensity of delivery with each scene. Ehle’s steady pace is at once relaxed and urgent as Charles Wallace rides a unicorn through time in an attempt to prevent nuclear annihilation. His sister, Meg, assists him through a mental connection as they piece together the lineage of hate that’s pitted human against human since time immemorial. A.M.P. © AudioFile 2012, Portland, Maine
