About the Author

J.L. Broxson was born in 1936, and he knew many of the people who inspired the characters in this story. His ancestors and relatives have lived in the North Florida area since the mid-1800s, and his memories of the true stories they lived formed the basis of this fictional tale.

D.S. Broxson is his daughter, who spun the tale of Bud and his family from her father’s memories and the descriptions of his early life.
