Overview

What if vampires were real? Where might they hide out, and why? Follow Joel and a few of his friends, who were just a couple of knock-around guys, living in the Tenderloin, one of San Francisco's toughest and grittiest neighborhoods, just doing what they can to survive and deal with the cards life has dealt them. Joel never certainly imagined he'd find himself in the middle of an ancient war between the forces of good and evil, vampires and Free and Accepted Masons, all while dealing with his own issues and hang ups. What are a couple of quasi-connected guys, doing messing around with these forces? Simple, these brought it into their neighborhood, when the vampires decided to do like every one else does, and come to the Tenderloin to hide out in plain site, in San Francisco's grittiest slum.

About the Author

Joel, is more based on the author than can most likely be explained, without incriminating himself. Joel lived in the Tenderloin for more than four years on Hyde Street, between Eddy and Ellis, and most of the characters are taken from actual people in the neighborhood. Are vampires an allegory... Don't do that! Just enjoy a really good book, with crazy characters, as they the forces of good and evil do battle in the Tenderloin of SF!
