A chance meeting brings the promise of lasting love in Ryan's latest (after The Bad Boy Experiment). Chandra Valentine and Julian Brandon meet on a plane and then again when he rescues her from a car accident. Despite the dramatic circumstances of their meetings, their relationship has no major catastrophes. Ryan builds an organic connection between her leads and has them overcome several obstacles on their way to a happy ending instead of outlandish twists. Readers who are familiar with Ryan's work will recognize her less dramatic style, though her relationships still have plenty of heat and heart. VERDICT This is the start of a new series, and Ryan does an excellent job of seeding characters and drama for future books without sacrificing character development for her leads.—Brigid Black
