Overview

A Suffering of Angels: A young American freelance journalist is sent to Honduras by the State Department to report back on conditions and whether there is any cause to send in U.S. Marines. He falls in love with the sister of the union leader, which leads to shocking consequences.

Remission: an ironic mystery of a man suspected in a cold case of being a serial killer who is now accused of three current murders. He feels that the old assassinations were justified and he has since lived in a state of complete remission as a normal and productive person. To defend himself, he winds up investigating the detectives investigating him

The Club: An American society club is formed by two friends who both work at the same Midwestern company which has armament contracts with the Pentagon. One man is a German-American and the other is Jewish. They are joined by two black men who has come up from the south in search of work. They each feel alienated in society and their club leads to surprising developments involving the Klu Klux Klan, unionization, the Socialist Party, espionage by a sleeper Russian "refugee" and an inter-racial romance.

About the Author

Jack Adler is a widely published travel writer/columnist with several books to his credit. Other novels by Adler include a historical trilogy – Parthian Retreat, Seres Sanctuary, and Parthian Karma; and another historical novel, A Rage Of Duty. Contemporary novels are: The Montrell Tapes, Di Mario’s Revenge, Ditzy and Champion, Envoy’s Dance, and Blackmail High. Nonfiction titles include: Southern India, Exploring Historic California, Splendid Seniors: Great Lives/Great Deeds, Seven Seniors, There’s A Bullet Hole In Your Window, California Mystique, Consumer’s Guide To Travel, Make Steady Money As A Travel Writer-Without Traveling, and Travel Safety (co-authored). The Library of Congress selected the latter book for translation into Braille.
As a playwright Adler has received a grant from the Yaddo Foundation. Several one act plays have been produced off-Off Broadway, with one published. As a journalist Adler has been a columnist , on a free lance basis, for the Los Angeles Times’ travel section and Westways Magazine. His articles have appeared in many other newspapers and magazines.
Adler and his wife, Barbro, reside in Los Angeles. He teaches travel writing courses for UCLA Extension and the Writer's Digest School.
