About the Author

Writer, director and producer Deanna McDaniel started her career by working for two years in Central America developing programs in mental health and education for victims of war. She then went to Boston where she began a filmmaking career at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston. There she produced and acted as assistant director on four short films. She went on to complete the Independent Feature Film Program at The University of Southern California and immediately produced and directed the feature documentary, Courage: Profiles in Creativity (1998), featuring actor John Lithgow, director Bille August, opera diva Suzanna Guzman, Marvel Comics editor-in-chief Joe Quesada, and singer Michael Franti among others. Additionally, she wrote and directed two plays in Los Angeles including First Last No Security.

Shifting to the Hollywood studio system, Deanna became Vice President of Internet Marketing for The Walt Disney Company. She built the studio’s first Internet Marketing department creating and implementing marketing strategies, media campaigns, movie and branded websites, interactive games, promotions, research, publicity, email campaigns, and a movie-user database. Ms. McDaniel was responsible for marketing over 80 films.

She then went on to work as Executive Vice President for Christopher R. Coppola Enterprises. During her tenure she created and produced original content for emerging media, film, and television inlcuding DigiVangelist (2011) for ReelzChannel. She also produced and directed the feature documentary The Duke City Shootout: Filmmaking in Seven Days (2006), featuring Coppola, actor Talia Shire, director Mary Lambert, and director Patricia Cardoso. Forming her own company Clara Luna Productions, Deanna directed the award-winning short film Bedrock (2007), and wrote and directed the short film thriller Veiled (2009). In 2011, she produced Christopher Coppola's television show, DigiVangelist.

Her diverse work experience also includes management consulting for Symmetrix, Inc., a re-engineering firm based in Boston.

Ms. McDaniel’s Bachelor of Arts in Communications is from Westmont College in Santa Barbara.
