A Son's Story: Nellie Cates My Mother
At ninety years old I still live on Front Street. As I write this story, I reflect on Rachel and her son, Jacob, in the Bible. This story which is found in the book of Genesis describes a mother's favoritism for one son over the other. Jacob's mother plotted with him to steal his brother Esaus' birthright and give it to the favored son Jacob. My story is about my mother's love for my sister wherein she disinherits me in order to give everything she owned to my sister.
