Overview

The main characters from “A Stone To Roll”, Di, Rock, and Cheyenne, return in this story as they each try to find their way along the twisting road that is Life. Cheyenne returns to the Army on what he hopes will be one last mission to avenge his dead comrades. Di finds her life is in upheaval, having sold her café to Betty Ann & Jake, her mother and aunt deceased, her childhood home in flames, Rock too busy to stay in touch, and Cheyenne too far away—emotionally and physically. Rock is trying to balance his business life and his personal life, and totally screwing it up, and as the three unlikely friends struggle to keep their heads above water, their paths intertwine again. Events take Di and Rock from Dry Hole to Tucson, to San Diego and San Antonio and Washington, D.C., trying to balance business and relationships and desperate to find Cheyenne, who is trapped somewhere in the middle of the chaos that is Afghanistan and Pakistan, where he finds his nemesis, and they meet for one last encounter, which only one of them can survive

About the Author

E. R. (Gene) Wytrykus retired after over three decades as an auditor, and took up creative writing as a retirement hobby. He has self-published, through Wheat Field Publications, a book of short stories, a combination of fiction and non-fiction, entitled "By The Short Hairs", and several novels: "The King of Coins", which used Gene's interest in numismatics and an incident during his years as an auditor, to form the basis of this story of international intrigue; "The Money Run", which used Gene's job with the Army in Vietnam in the late 60s as the basis for this mystery (Gene has also written a screenplay adaptation of "The Money Run"); "A Stone to Roll", a story of three people who are drawn into each other's lives at a time when all are going through personal crises; then the sequel, “A Road of Your Own”; "The Girls of His Dreams", the time-travel mystery of a grieving man whose dreams back in time present him with the possibility of saving his fiancé, who was killed in a bizarre robbery; "The 9th Inning", a dramatic novella focused on the last batter in a championship baseball game, (the book also includes three short stories); and “Family Ties”, in which two friends of different generations find that their searches for their fathers may tie them closer together than they had anticipated. Gene lives in Lincoln, CA. with his wife who is a published author in the field of bariatrics and dietary issues.
