In the world of wizards things are a little bit different. History hasn't exactly taken the same course. Wizards in America never really got around to throwing off their British colonial rulers. As a result the magical people of United States are still ruled by a king, a Wizard King! In Massachusetts USA, there's a boy, John Goode, who never knew a time when he didn't live in a foster home and never knew any home for more than a few months. His life was left with a huge void he could only fill with his imagination. When his case worker brings him to a foster home, unlike any other he's lived in before, his life takes a dramatic turn. His new foster parent tells him his biological parents are dead and they have an even bigger secret in store! John finds magic incredible, but he also finds it isn't all it's cracked up to be. His introduction to this new society of wizards is fraught with danger and obstacles. Invited to a magical university, he has no idea how magic even works. Things get more complicated when an unknown assailant tries to kill him, he finds out his parents may still be alive and he promises to reunite a genie with a lost love. (though John has no clue how.) For John, finding his parents is going to be the most difficult thing he's ever done. He must somehow enlist the aid of powerful magical beings including an Oracle, Father Time and most frighteningly, an angel called Death. Only then will he be able to unravel the mystery of his parents disappearance. He will need to learn fast, use his wits and rely on his character to earn friends. But will it be enough?
