Excerpt:

Chris was nearly asleep when he felt something grasp his wrist and heard something metal click around it. Well, Chris hadn’t spent all that time training for nothing- instinctively he stopped time, trying to figure out the situation. Everything stopped moving and the familiar, nearly unbearable cold spread around his body.

He looked around the room for something that attacked him, but nothing met his eyes. Well, maybe it was nanobots. Or invisible robots. Either option seemed to make sense at this point.

What was more confusing to Chris was that he wasn’t even a full superhero yet. He wasn’t famous enough to be attacked in his own home. If this was an attack, and not some stupid lucid dream, he was in deep trouble- it meant someone bigger than him was after him as a pawn in a much larger game. Chris was terrified- he wasn’t sure he was ready for the big leagues yet.

Trying to calm himself down, he looked at his wrist. A shiny metal cuff surrounded it. Several links of chain were visible, hanging upwards in the air. Chris tugged on it- there was resistance. Something was still holding to the other end.

Well, it wasn’t going to be nanobots, he ruled out. There might have still been invisible robots, especially as he couldn’t see part of the handcuff. Slowly he sat up. He didn’t want to slam into anything accidentally. There was always a chance when he startled that he’d accidentally restart time. Or, more likely, he’d just hurt himself banging against a giant metal frame he couldn’t see.

Carefully, using the towel he hadn’t bothered to put away, he threw it over the area where the handcuff disappeared. The towel seemed to suggest a pole, and as Chris gingerly explored it, he realized it was an arm. A human arm.

Excitement started to leak inside him. Chris tried to hold it back as his free hand moved up on the arm, hand shaking. He’d made it to a neck, and he moved upwards. The body wasn’t warm, but that was due to time stopping- everything was painfully cold. When he poked and prodded, the material gave way.

Chris’s fingertips trembled as they moved upwards met bare, soft flesh; a face. He trailed them over where a mouth would be, and they indeed found softer, wetter give- lips. There was only one man with the power to be invisible who would be interested in him.

Kevin.
