Overview

A story about a girl of mixed races named Ruth Ann (Ruthie): Ruthie's prejudiced maternal grandparents perceived Ruthie's existence as shameful and wanted to keep her a secret. If her maternal grandparents had their way, she would not have existed but for her stubborn mother, who loved her dearly. Hidden away until a sequence of events changed this. Ruthie's life took an unexpected turn, one alongside her paternal grandparents, to whom she was their pride, joy, and a blessing. While struggling to handle her pain and losses, Ruthie gets a bird's eye view of two worlds. The one from her past and the one she lives in now.

About the Author

Mintrue P. Gonzalez, who prefers to be called by her middle name Patricia, was born on a beautiful island in the Caribbean. She enjoyed art and spent hours drawing entire streets with houses as a child. She would then make up stories about the families who lived in those houses.
Shortly after graduating high school, she moved to London, England, and spent nine years before moving to New York. At age 40, she decided to pursue her dream of a college education. In 2005 she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Monroe College, New Rochelle, New York, with a bachelor's degree, in business management.
Mintrue now lives in Florida with her husband. She is a mother and grandmother and enjoys painting, crafting, gardening, and writing. She is also a born-again Christian and loves to worship.
This novel is her very first written work.
