He wrote on philosophy, ontology, poetry, plays, journalism, public lectures and debates, literary and art criticism, biography, Christian apologetics, and fiction, including fantasy and detective fiction. Chesterton is often referred to as the "prince of paradox." G. K. Chesterton's writing career spanned 35 years and included nearly 100 books and thousands of articles in 125 different periodicals, on topics such as travel, economics, politics, religion, and philosophy. His command of the language made him one of the leading literary figures of early 20th century England. Dale Ahlquist earned his B.A. in history from Carleton College, and M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies from Hamline University. As president and cofounder of the American Chesterton Society, he is perhaps best known for his creating and hosting the widely acclaimed EWTN television series, G. K. Chesterton: The Apostle of Common Sense. He is one of the most respected Chesterton scholars in the world, and has written many works on Chesterton. He is publisher of Gilbert Magazine!, an associate editor of The Collected Works of G. K. Chesterton, and editor of The Gift of Wonder: The Many Sides of G. K. Chesterton; The Annotated Lepanto; and The Chesterton University Student Handbook. He has lectured on Chesterton at Yale University, Columbia University, and at the House of Lords in England.
