Overview

While stalking the lives of several women, A Mile In My Shoes gives a birds eye-view account of childhood hurt, that carries over into adult relationships. The author causes the reader to consider the role molestation plays in promiscuity, and further questions the role parental neglect and abandonment plays in neediness and insecurities.
For example, while DeLaina Richards, the main character is witty, smart and beautiful she’s equally, insecure, needy, and lacks intellect when it comes to men.
Throughout this book amongst manipulation, black eyes, and plea’s for forgiveness; all courtesy of an ever cheating, abusive boyfriend, stands a woman who doesn’t think she deserves better.
A Mile In My Shoes, further explores the things that happened to many of us as children, and how those events shaped us into the adults we've become. Take growing up under the conditions of a "Traditional" household with mom and dad coexisting in a healthy relationship. This affords you a life example or training if you will. However, when you're without the benefit of training, you go into a relationship unqualified, trying to "Helen Keller" your way through it; leaving behind a trail of failed relationships due to unrealistic expectations; lack of training.
Sadly, much like the characters in this book, a lot of women fall victim to their past and find that their unable to have a healthy relationship with a man because they're not looking for a mate, their looking for a daddy; someone to affirm them.
This book depicts the unfortunate; the vicious cycle will continue from relationship to relationship until she stops looking for her daddy and seeks her father.
