Overview

Kate Nelson, a newly arrived transfer student at Pine Bluff High School in New Jersey, meets Jerry Baker on the first day of the new school year. The two of them form a relationship that looks as though it will last forever. However, along the journey to forever, the young couple is confronted by a roadblock that significantly changes their plans.

Gary Taylor, their social studies teacher, decides to go shopping for an electric razor at the end of his first day of teaching. On his way to the appliance department, he notices a stunning young lady, who is selling perfume. Taylor is smitten by her beauty and he tries to start an immediate romantic relationship. Unfortunately, the sales clerk does not share his enthusiasm. Taylor is not discouraged by the rejection. However, on a return visit to the store, he receives the devastating news that the lady no longer works there. He has no idea how he will ever find her again because the only information he received from her replacement was that her first name is Alicia.

As the reader follows the interactions among these individuals as well as those of many other characters in the book, he or she will encounter several surprises. In addition, the reader will have an opportunity to enjoy many humorous anecdotes while reading this charming story.
