Overview

Set in British Columbia, Canada, 'A Matter of Issue' is a masterfully-woven contemporary novel which weaves a compelling tale of birthrights, inheritances and elder abuse. When Charles Wentworth, recently widowed, has a second chance at love, his son, Kirk, sees trouble on the horizon. Kirk has planned his life around getting an inheritance one day, and will do whatever it takes to protect it. When things start getting out of hand, Charles's elder son, Bill, steps in to try and keep the family on an even keel. However, he soon finds himself embroiled in a whirlwind of family dynamics, as he strives to keep a rein on Kirk's behaviour. And then tragedy strikes. Meanwhile, Charles's grandson, Michael, who has just turned sixteen, asks for his birth certificate so that he can apply for his drivers' licence, and learns of a family secret which threatens to undermine his very existence. As Michael grapples with what he has learned and goes looking for answers, his mother, Alice, is determined to keep the past out of her present life. 'A Matter of Issue' weaves a web of family intrigue where caring becomes controlling, managing becomes manipulating, and bloodlines become blurry.

About the Author

Words are Carollyne's music and she plays them like a symphony - blending emotions, action, humour and life into riveting stories. Her first novel, "Raised by Committee", took readers on a roller coaster ride through the teen years of a young girl who is made a 'ward of the courts' in 1960s England. Carollyne's latest novel, "A Matter of Issue", is a work of fiction. In this contemporary tale she has woven a web of family dynamics fuelled by birthrights, inheritances and elder abuse, where caring becomes controlling, managing becomes manipulation, and bloodlines become blurry. Carollyne was born in Devon, England, and emigrated to Canada at age 20. She lived in Ottawa, where she worked at the House of Commons as a Member's Assistant, and then Calgary, before moving to Vancouver Island where she now lives with her husband, Jim. She has three children and four grandchildren.
