About the Author

Author, Joann Edmonds Dance has been painting Folk Art for 21 years. Her first painting was of a church in August of 1994. She paints from memory and everyday life using African and American themes. Joann also creates whimsical and comical renditions at times.

Before she started painting she worked through her Sunday school church department by supervising all the seasonal and holiday programs. She wrote all the poems and dialogue plays with Biblical themes. After trying many types of arts and craft projects Joann finally settled on sketching and painting.

She has five grown children, ten grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren (some foster).
