Overview

There have been days when I've felt trapped in thought, trapped within the confines of walls erected by my own brain. There have been days when the anxiety in my chest had become so great that it crushed my lungs, and zapped the color from my life. When I met him, he restored much of that color to my life, but when alone, he left a vacuum that I struggled to fill with my own color. However, through attending therapy, I've embarked on a journey of self-discovery. It's through my experiences expressed in these poems that I hope to connect to others. I hope that you can see yourself in my journey. You aren't alone, none of us are. We all deserve love, empathy, and acceptance, qualities I hope you find in these pages.

About the Author

Hello, It's nice to meet you; I'm Ian Beck, an aspiring independent author looking to connect to others through my stories. Since I was young, I've loved writing, and because I grew up with a Chromebook in school, I became very familiar with Google Docs. It's because of this that I started writing a lot more. I always had access to the internet and was creating either google slides, docs, or other online materials for myself or school. In sixth grade, I attempted to write and publish a book inspired by The Walking Dead. I never published that book, and it never passed the drafting stage. Fast forward to 2020. Covid-19 affected me greatly, for better and for worse. For the worse, I developed depression and anxiety, but for the better, I discovered that I was gay. Both experiences would shape who I am today. These experiences would plunge me into a world of politics, self-discovery, and lots and lots of learning.
