About the Author

Except for a few years in a small town, I have always lived in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Sharon and I have thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren as of 2015.

In July of 2013, I fell and my active life of being on my feet twelve hours or more a day came to an abrupt end. I shattered my right hip and found myself confined to a chair for several months. The pain and physical shock aside, it was a life changer. It was my first ambulance ride and the first time I spent more than twenty hours in a hospital. Stuck in a chair, I watched tons of movies and read every book I could find. You can only watch so many movies and read so many books in a short time frame before you get frustrated.

When I was able to sit at my computer for more than ten minutes at a time, I started writing (telling) a story. My wife suggested we see if the story could be published. I started research on publishing books.

A decent work of fiction averages about 80,000 words. I had 655,000 words! “Tammy And The Rescuers” became the series title. Like my driving career, these stories move fast, and chance plays an important role. I drove a tractor-trailer for two million miles in every possible weather condition through two countries without an accident. That was pure luck. I can recount times when others or I should have died, but miraculously I never scratched the paint. I wanted changes to our union; it was not servicing our members. Two meetings later, I was the president of the union.

The series, “Tammy And The Rescuers” contain some of those features as a fast-paced romp that should keep the attention of easily distracted youths. It you look hard you will see the underlying motives.

The great people at FriesenPress helped me trim “A Hidden World” and the editors showed me how to find the cadence of the story. Getting a story to paper proved interesting. I found a challenge in describing what the cover should look like. I was forced to use my computer skills in a different way to produce the cover image. “A Hidden World” is the first book of the series “Tammy And The Rescuers”. It is something I can leave to my grandchildren as a legacy.
