Overview

In this entertaining and life-affirming memoir, Dorothy Dehart-Scrutchin tells her life story—that of a feisty city girl from Texas who was never content to sit still, even after retirement. She recounts growing up in the '30s and '40s in Houston, experiencing first love and heartbreak during the tumultuous years of World War II, getting married in the '50s and raising a family in the '60s and '70s while working in bookkeeping and collections, and staying active in retirement by pursuing her love of art, volunteering at Shriners Hospitals for Children, and singing in a country and western band. Through all the ups and downs of life and all the precious moments in between, Dorothy's story illustrates that with a little determination and God's helping hand, you can do it all.
