A Darling Project
Many books have been written that retell the Lewis and Clark adventure story. They are mostly of the format of "following the trail today" and use copious quotes from the Captains' journals.

"A Darling Project" takes a different approach. This book is a series of 29 articles using modern writing and language that give an overview of the Expedition's trip. Each article is given a geographic location along with a beginning and ending date to the reader can follow the Expedition's progress on the map and on the calendar. This technique is used to overcome the largest problems readers face when reading about Lewis and Clark; a sense of geography, sense of time, and comprehending their antiquated writing style and vocabulary. Related material has been inserted to further explain key aspects of the journey, giving the reader a broader exposure to the Expedition and its scientific data gathering work. This book is much more than just the rather mundane adventure story.
