Gr 3-6-- Three slim introductory volumes. Colonial Crafts features photographs of relevant shops in Williamsburg. Apprenticeship is briefly described and a dozen or so occupations are highlighted. A Colonial Town notes the history of the colonial capital and mentions the massive restoration project. An aerial drawing of the historic district shows the locations of the various landmarks. Tools and Gadgets : breaks its subject down into categories such as home, medical, food, at the farm, etc. It uses many drawings taken from old prints to supplement the photographs of the various objects described. These books will be useful primarily for their clear and colorful graphics; sources of information are woefully lacking. Report writers will be better served by Edwin Tunis's Colonial Living (Crowell, 1976), Fisher and Fowler's Colonial America (Gateway, 1988), or titles from Leonard Everett Fisher's `` Colonial Amerian Craftsmen '' series (Watts; o.p.). --Elaine Fort Weischedel, Turner Free Library, Randolph, MA
