Overview

A Bridge of Hope tells the heart-wrenching story of the loss of Camilla Neff's first full-term baby girl, Serena Nadine, who died unexpectedly during delivery. With compassion and empathy for grieving parents everywhere, Neff describes the raw emotions and anguish that she faced.

She shares the deeply personal journey of wading through the layers of grief and pain that engulfed her, to learning to live again in a new reality after her world was shattered.

The journey of grief, especially in losing a child, can be lonely and feel utterly hopeless. Neff's greatest desire for bereaved mothers is that her experience will give them hope that it is possible to live a fruitful life beyond the catastrophic.

Are you walking through a deep tunnel that is so dark that you feel suffocated by the intensity of the blackness? Do you feel like there's a hole in your heart, one that no temporary joy, no empathy or intended comfort can ever fill?

Do you wonder how you will survive just one more day, one more hour, even one more moment, with such debilitating pain of heart, agony of soul and torment of mind?

If you experienced significant loss and live with these emotions every day, then A Bridge of Hope may be the conduit for healing that you've been longing for.

I’m finding that as I tearfully read every word, I feel closer to Jesus- learning more about His character, how He always carries me in the midst of my suffering with all my raw emotion, longs to heal the broken pieces of my heart, and provides great comfort, allowing my pain to bring about blessing to others.
—Autumn Duckworth, doula

Written in a devotional style, Neff walks the reader through the deep pain of losing a child, leading them to the true fountain of hope, the Lord Jesus Christ. This book is also a good resource for those who want understanding of those who have experienced loss.
—Teletha Elossais, my mother; also mother to my 4 siblings who went to be with Jesus in the 1st trimester

What can you say and do when a child’s life is suddenly taken from you or someone you love? This book is far more than the personal and painful experiences of a mom who has walked this road; it is a book saturated with the wisdom from above. As Camilla so eloquently reminds grieving moms, the sun will return and shine upon the bridge that God builds over the hole in your heart.
—Rev. Dr. Daniel W. McManigal, Hope Presbyterian Church, Bellevue WA

In A Bridge of Hope Camilla Neff invites the reader into her heart desiring to minister to hurting mothers who have lost a child. I am a father who lost an adult son in January of 2019. As I read Camilla’s letters, I found myself often nodding my head in agreement. When I read, “Dear Grieving Mother, One month has gone by,” my heart leaped into my throat. Although I am well aware that men and women tend to process grief differently, my eyes filled with tears as I remembered that horrible day one month later. The centerpiece of her book is the God who created us and who sustains us. She unapologetically points to Him through the Bible to find and to share peace and purpose. To say I “enjoyed” reading this would not be completely accurate. The proper word escapes me. I do recommend A Bridge of Hope specifically to moms who lost a child. Honestly, though, this is a good read for anyone who is grieving a loss. Read it. Give it away to a friend in need. You will not be disappointed.
—Dr. Richard Seim, Lead Pastor for 40 years (retired)

A Bridge of Hope is a remarkably healing book for moms who are grieving a miscarriage. It is also an eye opener- Both heart wrenching and heart warming, Camilla Neff shares with honesty about her suffering, fears, anger, struggle and healing by God when she was in the darkness of losing her three babies. I thank God for the precious truths in this book- that our holy God knows and actually plans everything in our lives before it happens for our good and His glory. When we have gone through the trials, we will be able to see God's work in our own life and be more faithful to Him.
—Hongna Fu, mother of Baby Fu who went to be with Jesus at 8 weeks

There is not much greater sorrow on this earth, than the loss of a child, at any stage. I have personally watched as Camilla Neff has battled through her fears, doubts, anger, frustrations and risen above the rubble of devastation, depression, anxiety and sleepless, desperate prayers. This book is a living testimony of the inner torment of a broken heart, the eternal perspective of a purposeful, loving God, clinging to hope unseen, and moving through the broken places to find the triumph of the soul once again. This book takes an honest, hard look at the naked rawness of pain and sorrow, laced throughout with the truth of God's Word, to cross over to that place of joy, hope and living in life's precious moments. Truly a gift to those who have known some of life's greatest sorrows and need a helping hand to heal and find life again in the here and now.
—Suzanne Thomson, Licensed midwife

If you are seeking encouragement, inspiration and compassion from someone who can completely relate to your pain and walk you through your journey with hope then this book is for you.
