Overview

Traditional Christmas songs are turned into Brazilian bossa nova-flavored music on this enjoyable, if somewhat lightweight CD. Guitarist Oscar Castro-Neves leads the core group behind such performers as Dori Caymmi, Joao Bosco, Joyce, Ivan Lins, and Toninho Horta. Their treatments of Christmas tunes including "I'll Be Home for Christmas," "Silent Night," "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," and "Jingle Bells" are tasteful and lightly grooving. ~ Scott Yanow
