Overview

David W. Irvin, Jr. seemed destined to be a military man. On his eighth birthday, Irvin's present from his father, a World War I aviator, was a 30-minute flight in a World War I single-engine biplane, a flight he said provided him with "the unbending impetus to be a flyer myself." That impetus led to a 30-plus-year career in the Army Air Corps and the United States Air Force. A Boy at War chronicles the events from that birthday present to Irvin's entry into the military and his subsequent deployment to England during World War II. The comprehensive stories of his missions and daily life during that time will make you feel like you were a part of his crew. A Boy at War is the latest of six books Turner Publishing Company has published with Irvin, who now resides in Peachtree City, Georgia.
