Overview

The tiny, backwater kingdom of Yurt is the perfect place--or so it seems--for a young wizard who just barely graduated from the wizards' school after all that embarrassment with the frogs. But Daimbert, newly hired Royal Wizard of Yurt, senses an evil spell at work. Who could be responsible? The beautiful young queen? Her flighty aunt? The dour chaplain? The old, retired wizard, who seems to know more than he's saying? Or someone from out of the castle's past? About the Author

I am both a fantasy writer and a medieval historian. I've loved fantasy since I discovered Tolkien in ninth grade, and a long trip to Europe with my family in high school cemented my interest in real medieval history. In my fiction, I can be as anachronistic as I like, but the real Middle Ages provide better plots than anything I could dream up. That said, the characters and themes of "A Bad Spell in Yurt" came to me literally in a dream, and it became my first published novel--ought to have more dreams like that! The series continues with "The Wood Nymph and the Cranky Saint." The series is light-hearted but includes such knee-slapping topics as mortality and redemption.
