Beating the rake, and then your opponents are the keys to success at low buy-in poker cash games. You have to become a decent poker player to make enough money to cover the rake, or like 90 percent of poker players, you'll (on average) leave the casino as a loser of money. When you can consistently take home more money than you started with, you can outplay your opponents even more, and perhaps make some serious money.

While usually playing bigger than the $100 buy-in tables these days, like most players, David learnt the skills required to win at poker by playing at low stakes. Twice a month he still plays the small buy-in at his local casino, and (oddly enough) he wins just as much there as he does at the $300 to $500 buy-in which is his regular game.
