In our mission to optimize tax careers and corporate tax departments, we have seen a significant need over the years to improve the tax profession through increased diversity. In order to identify the current gender breakdown within corporate in-house tax departments, we have analyzed data at various career levels from our extensive database of tax professionals. We have also gathered data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics that will provide a comparison specifically for the public sector.
Recently, we asked four female Heads of Tax from several major corporations to provide their perspective on our findings based on their past experiences and what they think we can do going forward in order to achieve gender balance in the tax profession.
Our respondents, who are quoted throughout this report, were:
Sarah McGill Senior Vice President of Tax at PepsiCo.
Jane Adam Senior Vice President of Global Tax and Enterprise Risk Management at Brown-Forman.
Margaret Curry Vice President of Tax at Kimberly-Clark.
Jackie Crouse Vice President of Tax at Amgen Inc.
In this report we will discuss how companies need to re-evaluate their female recruiting, retention and career advancement strategies and implement new measures to enable females to advance to more senior level positions. Likewise, females must also examine what steps they can take personally and professionally to further their escalation into these executive roles.
