The protagonist is bent and broken. Having been through an awful marriage and and even worse divorce, she imagines how she can finally be free of her ex-husband, who was violent and unpleasant at best during their marriage and a nightmare after their divorce. She manages to get through life thinking about all the moments in time where she was wounded in words and emotions, and how different ways to end a life could somehow make her feel better.
In flashbacks and moments in time, we see what her ex was like, and how this antagonist shaped and formed our protagonist's actions. He's a real piece of unpleasant work, one which even a lot of male readers might find ugly. Will she finally give in and find a way to commit "the perfect murder"? Will she really do it?
